We heard a lot of stories about UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) cases. Some claim to have seen them with their own eyes, others swear to have had close encounters with the unknown. But this is something external, which, allegedly, comes from space. However, there are things surrounding us, matters inside ourselves which cannot be comprehended by one's mind. With them, it's either faith or mental mutiny. There are loads of “unidentified objects" around us, we are always facing the unknown, which could be called OLOs (Obscure Living Object). They cause as many questions as UFOs do. It's them who influence our subjectivity significantly, though, we usually get to know about their existence only after having had to live through the carving of this experience into our memory. This is how doubts and disbelief are born, or sometimes vice versa – blind belief. It's a paradox. After moments of absolute clarity and understanding, life unexpectedly treats us with more painful, though, subtle mysteries.
You can trace how your life evolves in the context of understanding and misunderstandings, connections and disconnects with other people, subjects. What should you do after realising that you're being used as an object of influence? You're being used with such sophistication, so obscurely but fundamentally, that all tries to oppose this force most of the times result in an absurd suicide. Real life objects act through you, hinting, warning you about something existentially crucial to you, your relatives, and even people you don't really know. You're being warned by dreams, signs, sometimes – books, leaving no space for any manoeuvre and keeping secrets of nature intact.
Nature gives away air, water, soil, love. The civilisation leans enthusiastically to power, fame, money, oil, sex, leisure. Grab as much as you can and run as far away as possible. What's for a grab, and where to run?
Nothing in life is simply given to you, even though it seems everything just happens. Love, only love is simultaneously futile, and unchained, and irrevocable, and absolutely unclear…
There's only one obvious thing: grab as much as you can and run with it freely…
Rostyslav Koterlin
Rostyslav Koterlin's edition "Book of hints", which is presented during the project, is an artefact as well as small narrative in the context of exhibition. The book is completely corresponded to the usual artist forms, but in textual and prose form.
