The exhibition "Memory of the Theater" in the theater of Maria Zankovetska

"Memory of the Theater" is an exhibition that combines theatrical objects with modern sculpture and takes place as part of Lviv Sculpture Week 2024. It is a joint project of the Theater named after Maria Zankovetska and Art Center Ya Gallery curated by Pavlo Gudimov. The exhibition will run from October 5 to December 1, 2024 in the foyer of the first balcony of the Maria Zankovetska National Theater.

The luxurious theater space will be transformed into a place of installation of objects related to the theater, its history, and supplemented with sculptures by modern authors, in particular, such artists as Mykola Malyshko, Oleksa Furdiyak, Volodymyr Semkiv, Denys Shimanskyi, Ivan Samotos, Oleksiy Abramov, Volodymyr Loboda, Vasyl Grynevich, Rostyslav Karpukhin, Olga Bezpalkiv, Olena Blank, Vasyl Zvizhanskyi, Oleksiy Konoshenko, Hanna Drul, Yaroslav Motyka, Maryana Motyka, Oleksiy Zolotaryov, Igor Kovalevich, and others.

Things that became the basis of the exhibition are related to the history and "everyday life" of the theater, but remain hidden from public space. These are items of theater memorabilia that you really want to look at - whether it's cabinets, mirrors, scenography models, wigs, or more "exotic" ones - weights for lifting scenery and containers for storing props, which were still in use in artists' offices, dressing rooms, corridors, basements or stored in the theater museum.
